The majority of 3D pieces were created with a therapeutic goal in mind such as the Self Box at the beginning of the slide show. This self box project is used with those of traumatized populations in order to give them a safe place to result back to in the even that they feel threatened. The clients can take these home and when they are scared, pull the box out and feel the security needed to make it through the rough times. Another example of an art therapy technique used is the clay piece that is most beneficial for expressing strong emotion. The clients can squeeze, tear apart, beat, and so many other physical expressions of emotions like frustration and grief; this is called sublimation. Sublimation and catharsis is one of the main benefits of art therapy. For more information on art therapy check out the link to their page under my Contact page.
